Grief & Loss

We all experience grief and loss at some point in our lives.  We most often associate grief with the death of a loved one.  The pain and suffering can overwhelm us and we feel as if it will never end.  The more significant the loss, the more deeply we feel the pain and sadness.  Other types of loss can also cause grief such as loss of a job, losses associated with divorce, loss due to a miscarriage or infertility, or even the losses we carry with us from childhood wounds that prevent us from enjoying life and that  impact the decisions we make every day.

Grieving is a normal part of life.  There is no right or wrong way to grieve.  If, however, as time passes you find that the sadness and pain are not lessening, or that they are increasing and you are unable to move forward with your life, it is important to seek out professional help.  Much of my work involves some aspects of grief and loss.  If you find that you are struggling after a significant loss, I can help you, with compassion and empathy, to move through the process of grieving while developing healthy ways to cope so that, eventually, you can move on from the pain and enjoy life again.
